The Ones Who Hold
A Writing Circle for Birthworkers
A sacred space for those who hold so much—and need holding, too.
If you spend your days holding space for others, this circle is for you.
As birthworkers, we witness the full spectrum of life—birth, loss, transformation, resilience, and everything in between. We show up with open hands and open hearts, often leaving little space to tend to our own.
This writing circle is a place for you to be held.
A space where your experiences, emotions, and reflections are met with understanding and care.
What to Expect:
Over 4 sessions, we’ll gather and connect through guided prompts, gentle reflection, and shared stories. We’ll write, not for perfection, but for presence.
Each gathering will include:
-
Gentle grounding exercises to help you arrive fully
-
Guided writing prompts to spark your reflections and stories
-
Optional sharing in a compassionate, non-judgmental circle
-
Connection and community with others who understand the heart of this work
No writing experience is required - just an open heart and the willingness to put pen to paper.
Who: Active doulas, midwives, childbirth educators, perinatal mental health professionals, lactation consultants, nurses, bodyworkers, and anyone who supports people through birth and postpartum.
Cost: The recommended sustaining rate for joining the circle is $111. In order to make this accessible to all birthworkers, there is an option to pay what you are able. Space is limited to 10 participants.
Worried about committing because your birth schedule is unpredictable?
I get it — as birthworkers, we can never fully plan when we’ll be called in to hold space for a family. This circle is designed with that in mind. If you need to miss a session, you’ll still have access to the prompts and can join right back in the next time. Your presence is always welcome, whether you make it to all four sessions or just a few.

Why This Space Matters
(from me to you)
As a birthworker myself, I know what it’s like to carry the weight of so many stories—the elation, the grief, the awe, the exhaustion. This work shapes us in ways we often don’t pause to honor.
This circle is my invitation to you to step into a space where you are the one being nurtured. Where your voice, your pen, and your presence are celebrated. Where you can exhale, process, and find companionship with others walking a similar path.
Warmly,
Clara O'Rourke (she/her)
